Firefox for Maemo RC3 released
Firefox has announced the Release Candidate 3 of its new broswer for smartphones "Firefox for Maemo". This release has a lof of improvements and bugs fixed than RC2. Loading and Zooming of web pages is faster, more responsive panning and the awesome bar now pops up much faster when you click on it. A major change in this release candidate is the dropped support for plugins(not addons).
In order to improve the page loading time and responsiveness, the developers tuned a lot of preferences and improved several algorithms. The support for flash plugin was dropped because its use on many sites degraded the performance of the browser badly. No need to worry, it works well on Youtube
. Although the plugin support is not disabled permanently, you can still enable it manually using about:config, but this manual approach will be experimental and is not advised by the developers. But to make it easier, the developers are working on an addon that will let you control which sites to have enable plugins for.
The users having an RC2 already installed on their N900 or N810 can either wait for an update or they can directly install the new RC3 from here.
