Foxy proxy, an advanced proxy management tool

Foxyproxy is an advanced proxy management tool which is available as an addon in firefox. It is a free and open-source tool. It can be used to handle multiple proxies, loading banned websites through worldwide proxies and a lot more. Foxyproxy has certainly made browsing amazingly fast for me. It is some of the best firefox-addons ever made. In this article, I will show you how to configure Foxy Proxy to use multiple proxies at a time. 

I am a college student and we have to use a different proxy for downloading from file sharing sites and direct connection (no proxy) for LAN sites. It was pretty annoying to switch proxies everytime I want to open a website. Foxyproxy automated this process for me. Now it seems firefox already knows which site I want to open using which proxy. This is how I configured foxyproxy to handle multiple proxies.

After installing the foxyproxy addon in firefox press Ctrl+F2, or go to Tools => foxyproxy => options. This will open the foxyproxy options window.

Press the Add new proxy to button to add a new proxy. Enter the proxy settings you want to enter in it and press OK.

Since we are not adding any URL patterns that are supposed to be opened by that proxy. So, on pressing OK we will be prompted to do so. But there is another and quicker way to do that so ignore the message and press OK.

Default is the proxy which is used when no URL pattern matches. I selected the proxy for regular surfing as my default proxy. My third proxy is for direct connections (no proxy). My foxyproxy settings window looks something like this.

It also provides an option to use a single proxy at any time but if we want to open diferent websites using different proxies then we need to add URL patterns to the proxies. This can be easily done using the quick add option. Enable it.

Suppose we visit a website and we want to open it using another proxy then jst press the key combination Alt-F2 (look at the end of the article if you can't use this combo) and you will see this window

You can select the proxy you want to open this web site. You can even change the Pattern yourself. Click the pattern button and you will see this window.

What if we can't use the key combination Alt-F2, then we can use the addon keyconfig provided on the quickadd tab and configure it to modify the key combination for quickadd feature.
