Meego takes the Trophy this time, performs better than Android on SunSpider

Yet another Javascript test and guess who owns the crown this time? its another Linux based Mobile Operating System - Meego. This is my third consecutive post on Javascript benchmarks within the last 24 hrs. We really like comparing top technologies, don't we?

Anyway, after the Android 2.2 vs iOS4, Carrypad author Chippy decided to setup a match between the Champion Android 2.2 and the new contender in Mobile OS market, Meego (Start cheering for you favourite one :D). So, when he conducted the Sunspider test on the MeeGo-based Aava phone, running the Firefox build, it was completed pretty quickly within around 4.2 secs. Believe it or not, but this is way too fast for a mobile device. Even Android 2.2's browser finished the test in around 5.7 seconds, which before Meego's, was the fastest performance on a mobile.

So, I guess Meego gets the Crown now. And accoding to the Sunspider benchmark its:

Meego > Android > iOS

I hope this is the last now, its too much Javascript testing for a day.

An increase from the 1.1ghz on Android to 1.5ghz on this Meego device is a 36% jump in processor speed. A decrease from 5.7 seconds to 4.2 seconds is about a 25% decrease in execution time. Therefore, clock for clock Android is still > Meego.

Yeah, that sounds right. I don't know much about which processor which the comment below mentions, but the maths seems right. Although since Intel's Moorestown is a specialised for smartphones, ofcourse it would have its own advantages. It was probably unfair to judge them on different hardwares. Thanks for the comment.

The phone in question is a reference phone. It is not a shipping device. This article has nothing to do with Android or Meego, and everything to do with the interesting Moorsetown processor (that Intel is porting Android to). One upsmanship fail.
