Next Android release, aka Gingerbread, to bring Improved UI

Since the last two releases, Android Development team seems to be pretty happy with the core functionalities. The latest agenda for the team is to work on a better User Interface to improve the End user experience.

Since its release, Android has been adopted by a lot of Mobile Manufacturers as core in their smartphones. This looks like a win-win situation for Android (considering their competition with iPhone) but with each manufacturer adding their own UI layer to differentiate their products from others and make them look better and impressive, user experience is not the same everywhere.

According to TechCrunch, for the next release, Google will be focussing on improving the UI. A separate skin from each manufacturer for each model might not sound bad but they are mostly just slowing down the device(unoptimizied). This is what has been bugging Google for a while.

Coming up with an optimized UI will be a challenging task, considering the numerous hardwares Android runs on. Apple's iPhone provides a better use experience because of the UI being made for one and the only hardware it runs on. But Google will definitely have to work on improving the interface if it is aiming to cut down the market share difference with iPhone.
