Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx alpha 2 has released
Great news linuxers, Ubuntu 10.04 alpha 2 has released. It contains the latest open source softwares till now with a number of new features. This version presents a better glimpse of the LTS, Lucid Lynx which is scheduled to release on 29th April 2010. Users are not encouraged to use them on production machines but they may contribute by reporting bugs after installing it as a test system.

You can also upgrade to the alpha2 release.
Upgrade from Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop system
Press Alt-F2 and type:
update-manager -d
Hit enter, Update manager will open and show you that the new release is available to upgrade. Click upgrade and follow the on screen instructions.
Upgrade from Ubuntu 9.10 Server System
You might have to install update-manager-core package if its not already installed.
[shredder12]$ sudo apt-get install update-manager-core
Now, edit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades
[shredder12]$ sudo vi /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades
and set
Prompt=normal
Now, run the upgrade tool.
[shredder12]$ do-release-upgrade -d
and follow the onscreen instructions.
