Meego takes the Trophy this time, performs better than Android on SunSpider

Yet another Javascript test and guess who owns the crown this time? its another Linux based Mobile Operating System - Meego. This is my third consecutive post on Javascript benchmarks within the last 24 hrs. We really like comparing top technologies, don't we?

Meego OS emerging as an allrounder, will also work on Laptops and Desktops

According to a report by IDG, Intel has finally revealed that they are developing versions of Meego OS that will run on conventional laptops and desktops. This will be an interesting turn for this Linux-based OS which is already planning to come up as a vendor free open source Mobile platform.

Nokia to start using Meego on their N-series Smartphones, no more Symbian

Nokia announced this Thursday that from now on the N-series smartphones will have Meego instead of Symbian. The upcoming N8 handset will be the last in this series running Symbian. This doesn't mean Symbian will be kicked off the main stream, it will still be used in low spec/cheaper Nokia phones, which have a huge demand in developing countries. But in order to compete in the smartphone industry, Nokia is coming with the ultimate combo, N-series + Meego.

MeeGo is now open for Development

Today, Intel's Open Source Technology Center Director, Imad Sousou, announced that the source of  Linux-based Mobile platform, MeeGo, announced in February, is now open for development. This is not an official tested release for end-users, it aims to involve the developers from all around the world in its earliest stages of development.
