How to enable file sharing and receiving over Bluetooth
We can easily send files and browse other bluetooth enabled machines using gnome bluetooth, the default bluetooth application of Gnome. I was pretty happy with this utility until one day I found out that I didn't know how to receive any file over bluetooth :o . I couldn't find any receiving option in the bluetooth applet. This was when I came to know about "gnome-user-share"(a great app) using which you can not only receive but even share files over bluetooth.
Installing and configuring Gnome-user-share is really easy. Follow the steps given below to enable file sharing and receiving over bluetooth.
Installation
As usual the first step is always to install the concerned software.
Ubuntu Users
[shredder12]$ sudo apt-get install gnome-user-share
Fedora Users
[shredder12]$ su -c 'yum install gnome-user-share'
Enable File sharing and receiving
Once installed, the gnome-user-share service gets started with the gnome-session when you log in. You can configure various aspects of files sharing and receiving from System->Preferences->personal files sharing. You will see a window similar to this.
Select the appropriate options for yourself and you will be able to receive and send files without any problem
