How to stop popup notifications in pidgin

The notification feature provided by pidgin 2.5.5 in ubuntu 9.04 is activated by default. Earlier it seemed to be a pretty attaractive thing but I have many people added in my friends list and getting a notificatin everytime someone logs in was pretty annoying.

Specially when I am either watching movie or doing some work these notifications irritated a lot. But there is a way to get rid of this trouble or even tune it a bit for your needs.

This feature is actually provided by a plugin lib-notify . Open your pidgin manager and go to Tools => Plugins or just press Ctrl-U. Browse down the list of plugins and there you will see a plugin by the name “libnotify popups”.

then you can either configure it to your choice of options or you can jst uncheck it for no notifications.
